usb_modeswitch can send a provided bulk message (most likely a mass storage command) to the device which is known to initiate the mode switching.
If USB_ModeSwitch doesn't work out-of-the-box, search the internet for a matching config. Use lsusb to detect the device's vendor and product IDs.
