- Gwen WWhat a beautiful old theatre with such character. Enjoyed the Chicago ballet's performance with their talented students.
- Jeri DAmazing and Fun Filled. All the seats are pretty good. It's at a location which is easy parking plus a kid friendly environment yet still good for adults.

This 1911 built theatre is awesome. Located in the Lake View neighborhood in north Chicago adjacent to the beautiful St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with which there is a shared history and surrounded by single family homes in all directions. Parking is sometimes difficult on the residential streets but the walk is a pleasant one. The large theatre lobby has a photo & story display of the theatre. A small lounge is nice for pre show drinks & snacks. The theatre has been well preserved & maintained. The interior is beautiful and provides good sight lines to the stage. I watched one dance from the balcony and was treated to the visual lights displayed on the stage floor which could not be seen from the lower main seating area. I enjoyed my 1st experience here and will be willing to attend another performance. The theatre provided a diverse production list with many dance companies using the space. The Athemeum also offers smaller spaces for rehersals, meetings & small group functions.... less
- Edgar BAtheneum offers a wide variety of concerts and performing groups in the Lakeview neighborhood. Venue shows its age, but still, a great place offering an intimate setting.
