Experience the great outdoors at Denver Botanic Gardens. Sprawling over three acres (nine hectares), this natural oasis is replete with several themed gardens. Stroll along bonsais at the Japanese Garden, or enjoy a fairytale-like experience with Winnie the Pooh and friends at the Storybook Gardens. Xeriscape Demo Garden is great to gather tips on home gardening and horticulture, while the Rock Alpine Garden showcases a unique topography. Take a guided tour and marvel at the verdant landscape dotted with exotic flora, lawns, waterfalls and ponds. In addition, these gardens offer several botanical exhibitions, illustrations and workshops that are both fun and interesting.... less

But there is SO much to see, strolling around the extensive grounds outdoors--beautiful conifers and many other trees, and many plants just beginning to poke out of the ground. Everything is nicely labeled! The tropical conservatory is fascinating--fun to recognize giant versions of familiar houseplants. You can spend HOURS wandering around the grounds; it's well worth the visit! Finally, the bistro in the Memorial Center has a delicious chicken sandwich, and the gift shop is terrific!... less

The traffic and grind of the city disappear into a calm beauty. This is a fantastic stop in any tour of Denver, or if you live in the neighborhood, a great refuge. When I lived at 13th and Steele, I had a membership that allowed me access all year long. It was one of the best gifts to myself.... less

Everything was dead except for what was in the green houses. None of the fountains were going. They had a Japanese tea house with a tea ceremony that's only offered in the summer. I was really looking forward to that. The map they had is a little confusing because it can be hard to see where you are at. I guess it is better in the spring. They had a nice hands-on/ interactive building that they could put to better use. It was empty looking. No one there to greet or state the purpose of the different areas and none of the videos worked. I think it has more potential. I definitely think having something else in place for winter/early spring would be beneficial as well.... less

There are multiple indoor and outdoor gardens to go through. It is a beautiful place. I would recommend getting a season pass so that you can see it in each season. It is well worth a repeat visit!

I don’t think elementary age kids would have very much fun. Teens enjoyed takings phots with artistic flair. Great for strollers and plenty of benches for resting.... less
