MoreThe next time you plan to go to Mansfield, Ohio, make sure to visit the Kingwood Center. It is a historic 47-acre (19-hectare) estate dotted with gardens and greenhouses that were designed by architecture company Pitkin and Mott in 1926 for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelley King. It opened as a public garden in 1953. An interesting thing about the gardens is that they were built around Mr. King’s existing swimming pool and that the pool could not be accessed without walking through the garden room that was situated close by. The Kingwood Center featured on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Truly, it is a landscape worth discovering. Less
