The crown jewel of the park is its namesake, the unique Crater Lake, which at 1,943 feet (592 meters) is the deepest lake in the United States. Located in Oregon's "Ring of Fire," known for its volcanic activity, the lake and surrounding area were created when Mount Mazama collapsed into itself during a massive eruption in 5700 BCE. Apart from the lake, other park features include Mount Scott, the Pinnacles and the Pumice Desert.
