It is named for the year Longwood Gardens was purchased by businessman Pierre Samuel du Pont to prevent the botanical garden from being ruined to obtain commercial lumber. The restaurant consists of multiple spaces and the highlights are a sprawling beer garden and a picnic area with grills and 70 tables placed underneath shady trees. Guests can choose from The Founder's Room and The Lodge, lit by fireplaces, to savor Chef Will Brown's eclectic preparations. You can also head to The Gallery to view works by budding artists, and the Terrace Restaurant for an unparalleled panorama of Longwood Gardens.
