The beauty and the mysticism of settling and sweating in a foreign land have been fortunately preserved for us in multiple museums. The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the natural, historical and artistic heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountain region of North Carolina. The museum offers almost 3252 square meters (35000 square feet) of space for various permanent and changing exhibits. Starting from the stories of the settlers to the popular figures of the region that emerged are celebrated and preserved in the museum. You can dive into the experiences collected from letters, diaries and books displayed in the museum. Some of the interesting permanent exhibits include the largest open-face granite quarry in the world, the old-time music that was unique to the region and popular figures of the region including Donna Fargo Ralph Epperson, Andy Griffith and Eng Bunker.
