Since 1995, it is known as the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in honor of congressman Don Edwards' contribution to saving the wetlands. This refuge is the first of its kind in the nation and is spread across 30,000 acres (12,140.6 hectares). It is now home to countless migratory birds and endangered wildlife species including ospreys, white pelicans and hawks. Nature lovers can enjoy the distinct habitats and species here.   I am often in Newark on business and like to go to the park after work and take a walk. The views from the top of the hill are great and it is a nice hike for 45 minutes or so. More
