The Steinhagen Reservoir is an excellent place to start the wilderness journey, where you can hire a boat and paddle along the gentle waves or try to catch some fish for a hearty dinner. The pine forests, which includes longleaf and shortleaf varieties, are a delight to walk through. It is common to come across white-tailed deer and raccoons flitting about the dense foliage. Camping is also very popular here, owing to the park's remote location. The secluded nature of the park ensures that there is no light pollution at night, so you can see the stunning heavens and a multitude of twinkling stars in all their glory. Less
