Allen, who gained fame for his involvement in community activities, started the troupe in the 19th Century mansion of thespian Edwin Forrest. Today, the theater is divided into two parts, the Repertory, which produces a full season of performances annually and the Performing Arts Training Program, which provides instruction to a new generation of artists.
