This venue showcases some of the most famous acts in rock music. Dating back to 1917, this eye-catching building is equipped with lush balcony seats and VIP-boxes. Its lower arena is usually filled with grungy teens or punk rockers ready to mosh. The Riviera is not known for its subtle use of the sound system, so bring earplugs if you want to be able to hear when you reach middle age! Ticket prices vary.... less

Loved seeing him perform live. I have been waiting years for BH to come to the states to play and was SO excited to see him but absolutely dreading coming to the Riviera. I honestly almost gave up my tickets because of the horrible reviews that I had read. Thankful that I didn't because it was an awesome experience. Was it warm inside? Yes. But, I was comfortable for the entire show. Were the drinks expensive? Yes. Of course they are, what is expected at ANY venue, especially in Chicago. The staff was professional and friendly, the bathrooms were clean and easy to get to/in and out of, and the sound/visuals were awesome. I hope that they can make some upgrades in the future and keep up with it's needs so that it doesn't fall to ruins someday. I love the history of these old theaters. Anyway, I will be back! So happy that we didn't miss out on an incredible night because of the previous reviews. I hope that others can enjoy the same experience that we did and give some more love to the Riv. :)... less

The drink lines on the 2nd and 3rd floor were short and the bathroom (basement) has plenty of stalls/spots. After seeing 300+ shows in places across the US, this is in the bottom five for venues/staff. Door staff was rude and bossy. If there is no line (zero people waiting) and 5 available entrance points, I should not be getting barked at by some woman to enter in the far line? Merchandise vendors were disorganized and in tight quarters-very inefficient. Sold out show that perhaps was over capacity and no air conditioning? It is sad when people are fainting and getting sick without drinking adult drinks. To top that off, my wife bought a water bottle ($5-when sign say $4) and it is one off a beer flat that is room temperature. I am still trying to figure out why I had to pay facility fees of $20 for two tickets-really didn’t get anything but the epitome of customer service and an opportunity to take a shower when I got back to hotel. I can understand when I am in standing room only but I was 5 rows from top in seats. Unless the Clash or Ramones are playing here in my lifetime, I will not be back.... less

I love seeing shows at aging theaters. Saw My Bloody Valentine there, the marquee was super cool, people were nice from security to the bartenders. Loved the green and purple peeling paint. Only one suggestion, have some type of packaged snack. At many Detroit concert venues the bathroom attendant has packaged chips and peanuts for sale. It would help the hypoglycemic who aren't allowed to bring in snacks, but want to enjoy a full lineup without having to feel like fainting or have to leave.... less
