- ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals setup man Jordan Walden will be shut down for six to 10 weeks for a strained muscle in his right shoulder. The 27-year-old was placed on the 15-day disabled list last week and the decision was made Wednesday after a second opinion. The Cardinals say the injury will not require surgery.

Sep 7, 2015 · ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals reliever Jordan Walden is not expected to pitch again this season. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak announced the news Sunday. Walden made his last appearance April 29 before going on the disabled list with right biceps inflammation.
Walden recorded his first MLB save on September 19, 2010, against Tampa Bay. The Angels named Walden their full-time closer on April 5, 2011, replacing Fernando Rodney. On July 7, Walden was selected to appear in the MLB All-Star Game for the first time, taking the place of an injured Mariano Rivera.
