May 28, 2019 · Having grown up in Big Stone Gap, I always remember the beautiful and scenic Powell Valley from the road from Norton to Big Stone. My family over 60 years ago so that view is no longer and the new road takes you along the edge of the valley. Stopping at the Powell Valley Overlook on HWY 23 still gives and spectacular view of the Valley.

The facility is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. Neighboring areas of Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina are only a one to two hour drive away.
