A burning oil well prompted the owner, present-day billionaire Phillip Anschutz, to call Red Adair, a famous firefighter who later put out the oil well fires during the Gulf War, to put out the blaze. He's joined by a crew that includes Jack Lomax (Jay C. Flippen), Joe Horn (Bruce Cabot), and his assistant, Greg Parker (Jim Hutton).
The movie climaxes in Venezuela, where the Hellfighters have to deal with 5 flaming oil rigs and a violent guerrilla rebellion. Except for two utterances of that-word-that-rhymes-with witch and Greg starting out the film as a libidinous hound dog, this is a G rated adventure for the whole family.
