The dam is 1,336 feet (407 m) long and 61 feet (19 m) high; its reservoir is 7 miles (11 km) long and has a storage capacity of 5,000 acre-feet (6,200,000 m 3 ). It is a run-of-river dam.

But Montanans proudly explain there are five separate falls of the great river, extending approximately 10 miles that drop the water level a total of 612 feet.
Of all the dams along the Missouri near Great Falls, Ryan is the one ro visit. That's because of the park on the island just below the falls below the dam. It's lush, scenic, and a great place for a family picnic.
