About the Renwick Gallery. The Renwick is the branch museum of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, featuring a wide array of contemporary craft and decorative art. The Renwick Gallery is located on Pennsylvania Avenue at 17th Street N.W. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., (except Dec. 25). Admission is free.
The Renwick gallery actually started out either as the first Museum devoted to American art or the first art museum in Washington. Either way, the museum itself has a very strong Legacy. Because it's part of the Smithsonian it's free, and it's an excellent place for both kids and adults.

The American Art Museum is located on 8th and F streets NW, while the Renwick Gallery can be found at Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street NW. Admission is always free, the museums are open Wednesday-Sunday and regular hours are 11:30 a.m. – 7 p.m at the American Art Museum and 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Renwick.
