Melbourne Zoo is a zoo in Melbourne, Australia. It is located within Royal Park in Parkville, approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of the centre of Melbourne. It is the primary zoo serving Melbourne. As of 2021, the zoo contains 3742 animals comprising 243 species, from Australia and around the world.
We are open every day 9am – 5pm. We recommend all non-members pre-book online, including babies, even if attending on a day when kids visit free. The Melbourne Zoo Team are undertaking maintenance works across the site. The following planned works may impact visitor paths and animal visibility.
Walk where tigers roam and monkeys swing from tree to tree. See eye-to-eye with the Orang-utans in their special elevated exhibit, explore the Trail of Elephants and then head down the bush track to see unique Australian wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, wombats and emus.
