Born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1950, Odundo trained in graphics in Nairobi and came to the UK in 1971 to continue graphic studies at Cambridge College of Art (1971-73), where her interest in ceramics began. Dame Magdalene Anyango Namakhiya Odundo DBE is a Kenyan-born British studio potter, who now lives in Farnham, Surrey. She has been Chancellor of the University for the Creative Arts since 2018.
