Ram Jam was a short-lived American rock band formed in New York City and active in 1977 and 1978, mainly known for their hit single "Black Betty". Overview [ edit ] The band consisted of Bill Bartlett (guitar and lead vocals), Howie Arthur Blauvelt (bass), Pete Charles (drums), and Myke Scavone (lead vocals). [3]
Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band had two of the biggest selling UK albums of the sixties. Amazingly both of these were live albums. Hand Clappin, Foot Stompin, Funky Butt Live was in the album charts for 48 weeks of the year 1966 and was only out-sold by The Sound of Music and Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme.

★★★★☆☆ Of the handful of 60's albums by Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band this is by far the best - and IMO the only one that holds up as an album. From start til finish it offers a contageous energy and a band steaming with no breaks, sort of in the same vein as James Brown's 1962 Live at The Apollo album.
