Apr 29, 2014 · What has happened to the White Bass at LOZ over the years. 10-20 yrs ago they were so abundant. You could go out most days, especially early spring and fall and just follow the jumps. I think last year, I only saw a couple of jumps and they didn't last very long.

Lake of the Ozarks has 15 inches minimum length limit on largemouth and smallmouth bass, and 12 inches minimum length limit on spotted bass. The best time to fish for bass is in May. Try fishing the shallow water to have a good catch.
A swim jig, spinnerbait, crankbait, and fluke are excellent spotted bass lures. Since shad are silver, the best colors to match the forage and get a bite include white, chrome, and silver. The soft plastics I use the most for spots are a dropshot rig and swimbait in shad patterns.
Spotted bass or Kentucky bass must be a mimimum of 12 inches to be a legal keeper. The White Bass daily limit is 15 per angler and no more than 4 of your creel can be longer than 18 inches. The Walleye limit on Lake of the Ozarks is 4 fish and they must be 15 inches to keep.
Although white bass can successfully spawn on various types of bottoms, they seem to congregate more around any rocky areas, such as gravel shoals and riprap. During a typical spring with normal rainfall, white bass run in several feeder creeks or rivers on the Lake of the Ozarks.
