Press Windows+. to show the emoji panel, then find the £ symbol in there (may be on a different tab if you haven't used it recently) Switch your keyboard setting to ENG UK (using Windows+Space) and type Shift+3; Switch your keyboard setting to ENG INTL (using Windows+Space) and type Shift+Alt Gr+4

That means you have the "British" keyboard layout active. If you had a British hardware keyboard, it would be printed on your 3 key, but I guess you must have a US hardware keyboard.

If there's a way to swap # and £ then I'm in good shape. I use the Terminal for coding, and probably never need to type £ in Terminal.

Select the British pound symbol from the character list. It looks similar to a lower case "F": £. Click "Insert" and the symbol will be inserted into the document. Place your cursor where you want the symbol to be in a document. Press the "Option" key. Press the number "3" key while holding down the "Option" key. TIP.
