Alte Oper Frankfurt, translated as Old Opera, is the city's major concert hall and was once an opera house. The original opera house was damaged during the Second World War. A new opera house was then rebuilt on an alternative site in the 1950s, so after being reconstructed in the early 80s, this building was renamed Alte Oper.
