If someone is in your “family” on iOS accounts they can SharePlay movies that were purchased by someone in the family but still have to rent movies separate. I use SharePlay almost daily and these are the limitations I’ve experienced. I’ve also had issues with playing HBO Max. If you get answer, I would be curious.

Buying a movie means you can keep it as long as you have the file, and in most cases, freely redownload it from the same country's iTunes Store for as long as it's available. Renting a movie only gives you a limited time period to keep and watch it.
Once signed into your account, you can select a movie, TV show, or other content by clicking on the artwork, and from there you will have the option to rent, buy or (in some cases) instantly stream the content: When renting a movie, you will have 30 days to initiate playback and 48 hours to finish the movie after pressing play.
