Well Yogi Bear's a fairly obvious pun on the name of the baseball player Yogi Berra. I don’t think the reasoning goes any deeper than: the name the creator decided for him. On another note this sounds like the set up for a joke. A "boo-boo" is childhood slang for a minor bump or a bruise.
