Kim Michelle Janey (born May 16, 1965) is an American politician and community organizer who served as acting mayor of Boston for eight months in 2021. She served as president of the Boston City Council from 2020 to 2022, [a] and as a member of the council from the 7th district from 2018 to 2022.
Prior to becoming Mayor, Kim Janey made history in 2017 when she was elected to the Boston City Council as the first woman to represent District 7. In 2020, she was elected by her peers to serve as President of the most diverse City Council in Boston’s history.
