The new wave of new wave ( NWONW) was a term coined by music journalists to describe a subgenre of the British alternative rock scene in the early 1990s, in which bands displayed post-punk and new wave influences, particularly from bands such as the Clash, Blondie, Wire, and the Stranglers. A new wave foi o gênero musical mais popular e influente do mundo na década de 1980 até o início da década 1990. Seu som dançante, alegre e acompanhado pela moda distinta da década de 1980; com cores pastel e neon chegou a definir e influenciar diversos estilos como no cinema e na televisão.

The band achieved chart success in 1985, and are best known for their hit single "Love & Pride", which reached number 2 in the UK. The band had two Top 20 albums (both certified Gold) and five Top 30 singles in the space of a year.
The British music magazine NME is largely responsible for popularising the term throughout 2006 and 2007, until claiming in mid-2008 reviews that "New Rave is over". The genre has connotations of being a "new" version of music heard at raves, as well as being a play on the term "new wave". Aesthetics
