Feb 15, 2015 · Now there was some serious softball played there in the 1970's. BYM had a team that had players like Dave and Roger Snatchko. They had one player that I thought had the coolest name for a softball player. His name was Red "Killer" Kowalski... We played Sol Mintz there for 5,000.00 for one game. We lost by 2 or 3 runs.

Champion – Raybestos Brakettes, Stratford, Connecticut (57-0) Runner Up – Orange Lionettes, Orange, California (67-14) Joan Joyce of Raybestos beat Nancy Welborn of Orange Lionettes 1-0 in the Championship game. Joyce tossed a no-hitter and struck out 10 Lionettes.
Allegheny won the PAC 3 straight years and he was named to the All-Conference Team. While in College he played for Sol Mintz City Softball Champions, 1962 ’64.After College he played Semi-Pro Basketball for Brownsville and the Tylerdale Civic Club. Parkinson graduated from the West Virginia University Law School.
Now in the finals, Sol Mintz faced Snyder’s Softball Club of Michigan. Rick Pinto hurled a 5-hit shutout to give Snyder’s the championship via a 11-0 victory. Matt Partridge had 3 hits and Doug Gerdes made it look easy with a booming home run among his two hits and 3 RBIs.
