Although the idea that there are no original stories sounds upsetting, especially for writers, the truth is that every story follows the rule (most likely) of “same, but different.”. That's a good thing! If stories were completely original, it would be hard to know if there was a readership interested in them.

Kafka, Ballard and Burroughs are the most post-punk fiction authors - for nonfiction, look towards critical theory like Gramsci and Debord. A relative of mine says his father, a veterinarian, has regularly poisoned neighborhood cats. This bewildered me. But he has assured me that him being a veterinarian choose a painless poison and that the cats didn't suffer. My limited knowledge of poisons lead me to believe there is no such thing as a painless poison.
Try Stuart Kaminsky, the Lieberman and the Rostnikov series. James Patterson’s Alex Cross books has Cross at the protagonist and his best friend, Sampson, as his partner. From memory, Sampson is never in them all of the time but he’s in them a fair bit. In the third book, he’s in it loads and they have banter together.
