Sep 6, 2009 · 32 Magnum. I have owned/still own several Tanfoglio Witness pistols. In the standard model, the safety when applied blocks movement of the hammer and locks the action. It can be applied when the hammer is either "down" or in the cocked position. The condition described by 3LDem sounds to be a malfunction.
