Madeline Island is an island in Lake Superior. Located in Ashland County, Wisconsin, it has long been a spiritual center of the Lake Superior Chippewa. Although the largest of the Apostle Islands, it is not included in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.

Madeline Island is the largest of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. Take the 3-mile ferry ride from Bayfield to arrive in La Pointe, the only town on the island and the place where you can stroll through art galleries, small-town shops, and try tasty restaurants with lakeside views.
