Between the 2010 and 2020 census, the population of the state overall did increase. 50 counties in Florida would experience population growth while 17 counties saw their populations decline. Most of Florida's population lives in urban areas as in the 2020 census, close to 97% of people in Florida resided in metropolitan areas.

Dec 14, 2023 · New Smyrna Beach has the highest number of shark attacks in Florida. This city has recorded close to 200 shark attacks since 1882, and in 2023 alone, there were 32 shark attacks. Other beaches with high shark activity include Cocoa Beach in Brevard County, Ormond Beach in Volusia County, and Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County.
This includes a five percent increase in counties that have less maternity access since 2020. In maternity care deserts alone, approximately 2.2 million women of childbearing age and almost 150,000 babies are affected. There’s a two percent increase in counties that are maternity care deserts since our 2020 report.
