Jan 2, 2024 · A provision of that law that established a permanent absentee voter list went into effect on Monday, Jan. 1. Until now, New Mexico voters who wanted to cast an absentee ballot had to request one for each election. That has now changed with the creation of a permanent absentee voter list. Joining the list is voluntary.

You can call the County Clerk's Office at 505-986-6280 and we will send you the application or you can electronically request an Absentee Ballot from the Secretary of State's website here. Also, candidate organizations and political parties often carry out absentee application events.
All ballots must reach the Fayette County Clerk's office by 6:00 p.m. on election day to be counted. If you qualify for a mail-in ballot and have any problems completing and submitting your application on the portal, please call our office for assistance at 859-255-8683.
