Mar 8, 2011 · Yes, there is not an "upgrade" price in the normal/traditional sense. Each license gives you two full version numbers and all their hundreds of updates in that lifecycle... so you get versions 7.000 - 8.999 if you were to buy now. That will last you 5-8 years or so.

The issue with Cakewalk is that it's core code is designed to run on older hardware and/or os, meaning they are bolting on new code to the original code. So the software will run great on older systems but starts having problems when you get to Windows 8 or 10. This is unfounded and not true.
