[1] It was launched in July 2023 as a fork of the Russian Wikipedia, [1] and has been described by some media groups as "Putin-friendly" and "Kremlin-compliant". In 2014/2015 the absolute majority (13.1 million or 96%) of 13.7 million Russian students used Russian as a medium of education. Around 1.6 million or 12% students studied their (non-Russian) native language as a subject.
