Established in 1581, the Manila Cathedral was initially built using bamboo, nipa, and wood. Over the years, it has been damaged and destroyed by fires, earthquakes, and bombings during World War II. The current church structure, the eighth one, was built in 1954 to 1958. It is of Neo-Romanesque style and is made of adobe and cement.
