Joe “Texas Red” Grant. Killed by Billy the Kid. Grant had the misfortune of getting on the wrong side of Billy the Kid. While drunk one night in Beaver Smith’s saloon in Ft. Sumner, Grant threatened to kill Jim Chisum, whom Billy was sitting with, thinking it was John Chisum. Billy corrected him and Grant shouted that he was lying.
