Define Ethnic Ethnic refers to a group of people who share common cultural characteristics, such as language, religion, traditions, and beliefs. This group is usually defined by its shared ancestry or nationality, and may be distinguished from other groups by physical or cultural differences.
Abstract. In this paper I shall review some of the ways in which anthropologists have looked at and written about what we now call ethnic groups and ethnicity. I shall argue that the terms in which anthropologists have written about such issues can only to a very limited extent be regarded as a separate, let alone ‘expert’, form of discourse.
