Art. V, Officers and Employees. Sec. 503. City Attorney: Election, Powers and Duties. (A) Designation as Officer; Election. The City Attorney shall be an Officer of the City and the department head of the City Attorney’s Office. Role of the City Attorney. Duties include: Prepares ordinances and resolutions for City Council. Drafts and reviews contracts as requested. Represents the city in litigated matters. Advises the city in real estate transactions. Provides general counsel as needed. Note: Prosecution of Municipal Court cases is handled by a separate prosecutor.
