Nov 30, 2016 · Kickapoo Cavern State Park is a relatively new park in the Texas Parks and Wildlife system, opening full time in the summer of 2010. It is located 22 miles north of Brackettville, Texas, at the far West edge of the Texas Hill Country, and has some very interesting and unique things to offer.
The park is reached by taking U.S. Highway 90 west out of Uvalde, then taking Ranch Road 674 north of Brackettville for 22 miles. Look for signs on the highway. The gate is 0.25 miles past the Edwards County line on the west side of the highway. More detailed directions may be obtained when visitors call to make reservations.
A new favorite - if you like quiet parks with dark skies, this is for you! Sept 2020. A very nice, quiet, remote state park located in the southern range of Texas Hill Country. There are a small number of campsites, with five having full hookups for RV's. The park is 30 miles down TX 674, which is a narrow, winding, 2 lane road.
