The two families already knew each other: Hermann van Pels worked for Otto’s company. Four months later, they were joined by an eighth person: Fritz Pfeffer, an acquaintance of the Frank family.

Her diary, written as a teenager from June 1942 to August 1944, describes her life hiding with her family and four other people in an Amsterdam attic. They were denounced on August 4, 1944. She was deported to Bergen-Belsen and perished in February 1945.
