The early '80s were a busy time for both Powell and Utopia, as Utopia enjoyed their biggest chart success (1980's superb Adventures in Utopia), while Powell issued a second solo album, Air Pocket (the latter of which contained a track that would soon find its way into Utopia's live set, the hyperactive rocker "Emergency Splashdown").
Feb 29, 2012 · Roger Powell may be the most well-known of Utopia’s keyboard/synthesizer players, but he was actually preceded in the band by Jean Yves “M. Frog” Labat. Both Labat and Powell recorded solo albums at Bearsville, and so the former’s M. Frog and the latter’s Air Pocket have been joined together on one disc by Edsel.
