By April 1980 (C.K. Lendt, KISS & Sell) the band had renegotiated their contract with Casablanca on the strength of the international success of "Dynasty." KISS entered the Record Plant Studios in New York to begin recording "Unmasked" in the Spring of 1980. However, Peter had already announced his intention to leave the band and wasn't present.

Probably the lightest sounding album KISS ever made. I owned the original US LP from 1980 and I remember being disappointed on the SOUND ( too light, no punch), and of some of the songs, particularly Gene's and some of Ace's, but especially Side B which is basically the shit the remaining three members of this band had lying around. Pure filler.
