In the 1986 NCAA Tournament first round, Hornacek hit a 26-foot jumper at the buzzer of overtime (vs. Miami, Ohio) for ISU’s first tourney win since 1944. His jersey #14 was retired by both Iowa State and the NBA's Utah Jazz. Second-round NBA draft pick by Phoenix, he went on to make the league’s all-star team in 1992.
