Dec 11, 2016 · BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana voters chose Saturday to send Republican state Treasurer John Kennedy to the U.S. Senate, filling the nation’s last Senate seat and giving the GOP a 52-48 edge in the chamber when the new term begins in January.
John Kennedy was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016 and won re-election in 2022. Sen. Kennedy serves on the Appropriations, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Budget, Judiciary and Small Business and Entrepreneurship committees in the U.S. Senate.
