Our Animal Services Officers serves to protect the public health and safety of our community and their pets. Animal control is funded by: Tax Dollars; Grants; Foundations; Donations; Other: If the animal control provider is a government agency or for-profit contractor, tax dollars are being used to pay for the services. However, if the provider is a nonprofit contractor, the funding could come from tax dollars and/or third-party donors.
Some of the services the animal control officer provides: Rescuing injured animals. Controlling stray and potentially dangerous animals at large. Bringing lost pets to the Humane Society of Scott County where their owners can reclaim them. Investigating animal mistreatment and neglect. Animal Control and Rescue. The City of Chicago receives over 40,000 calls a year to the 311 center from the general public regarding animal related inquires and service requests.
