Last but not least here’s a gorgeous Sam Egan (father to 90s / 2000s leadfoot Luke) stick. Don’t know the dims or the details — I just know it’s super clean and rad to look at. There’s just something about the unbroken lines of these stringerless boards that quickens the pulse. The double logos are a killer touch, too.

Original competition stripe on the deck with 1″ red wood stringer and a timber tail block. This board is in great condition for its age.
Apr 15, 2020 · Famous shapers launched careers. On the day his son Luke was born, Sam Egan made a tiny four-three inscribed with the prophetic words World Champion 2000. In 1988 Sam shaped what he rates as his best-ever board. Luke won the Australian Pro Junior title on it and stepped into a lucrative career. Sams world champ tip wasnt too wide of the mark.
Tim Duff's Surf Centre started around 1968, later the Shanti Surf Shop in early 1970s, the Boardroom in mid-1970s, and Sunshine Surfing in the late 1970s. After several owners, including Kinsley Looker and Phil Baxter (the last), Sunshine Surfing ceased trading for fifty years and closed on 28 May, 2018. 1974.
Sam Egan Thombstone Surfboard. The Sam Egan Thombstone Surfboard is a high performance take on the retro fish. From the outline, it has width and straight rails through the middle, like a fish. So you get lots of drive down the line. The nose though is tucked in. So you don’t get that fish bull-nose but a refined shortboard entry.
