Sep 15, 2020 · Synopsis: In the salon of the Lord of Faninal, who ceremonially bids farewell to his daughter Sophie, who excitedly awaits the arrival of the Rosenkavalier. When he is gone, Sophie looks out of the window at the proud six-man carriage from which the Cavalier of the Rose in silver dress emerges and enters her house.
Faninal and his daughter Sophie await the arrival of the rose bearer. As her duenna Marianne reports on the approach of Octavian, Sophie worries over her impending marriage to a man she has never met, Octavian arrives and presents the silver rose to Sophie, and the two youngsters become infatuated.
