McLaughlin is the world and Olympic record holder in the women's 400m hurdles. She set her world record time of 51.41 seconds this year at the U.S. world trials on 25 June 2022. On her way to the Olympic title at Tokyo 2020, McLaughlin ran a 51.46, which is the current Olympic record, and was a world record at the time.
