Jan 22, 2018 · Born André Simon Anderson on June 27, 1958, Cymone grew up on the North Side of Minneapolis: the youngest of six children raised by his single mother, Bernadette.André’s father, Fred, was a musician on the local jazz scene; though largely absent from his son’s upbringing, he played an outsized role in shaping his musical ambitions and work ethic.
