Alec Douglas-Home, Baron Home of the Hirsel, was a British ‘Conservative’ politician and a former prime minister of the United Kingdom (October 1963 to October 1964). During his tenure of public service, Home became known for his command over dealing with foreign matters.
Douglas-Home (then known by his courtesy title of Lord Dunglass) became Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chancellor Neville Chamberlain. When Chamberlain became Prime Minister in 1937, he retained Dunglass as his PPS. Dunglass even accompanied Chamberlain on the Munich visit in September 1938.
Alec Douglas-Home (1903-1995) devoted his career to British politics. Serving in the Parliament for many years, he became prime minister in November 1963 and remained in office until the Conservative Party lost the 1964 elections.
